Thursday 5th September

SHE SAID:

After such a lovely day yesterday I managed to totally write-off today.

Apparently, going orchid hunting without your camera is something I can excel at!

This is the 2nd time I have done this now. Of course I went into meltdown; we returned to the house & I didn’t do anything for the rest of the day. I was too angry to go out again, plus the feels like temperature was about 6c - it was wet & windy!

I think Geoff was grateful that we weren’t out in it looking for little flowers!!!

HE SAID:

I got quite a surprise when I checked a hen laying box this morning and saw a large, furry, grey mass. The possum must have had quite a surprise too, as he was snoozing away in a warm, comfy spot one minute, and then exposed and chased out the next!

There was some fencing wire lying about nearby, so I grabbed some pliers and tightened up all the loose wire, and only got mostly soaked, not completely, and hailed upon only a little while I did so. Not a great start to the day.

The theme of the day continued when, after getting fuel around 40km away from the house, Varena realised that she had left her camera back there. Things just got worse from there. Including the weather, which was crap all day. We ended up with the heater, plus the fire, going for most of the day.

Skype with Julian and Kiyoka in the evening was the usual fun time.
