Today is Paul’s actual 90th Birthday. He got another round of birthday wishes, though his day was quieter than yesterday.
Geoff & I did the airport transfers for Meg in the morning, & for Annette & Drew in the afternoon.
Inbetween we headed to Queensland; Geoff’s idea, as it was only about 70km away. We got photos at the border then went out to the Cougal Cascades in the Springbrook NP. We had a nice walk along the creek, & surprise, surprise I spotted an orchid. All the more surprising was the fact it was a new to me orchid, an epiphytic orchid on a fallen branch & not 20m high up in the canopy, their usual habitat.
We came back via Murwillumbah, which I think is a new town for us, passing to the oddly named places of Dungay & Dunbible!
After dropping Annette & Drew off at the airport I made Paul’s choice of dinner, curried sausages & rice.

HE SAID:
Why not! We hadn't been to Queensland for several years, so even though it was brief, we had a quick visit. As usual, Varena came up with a nice place for us to look at, and then found an orchid! But, with limited opportunities to get some lunch we stopped at a little cafe near Carrumbin, and it was there I had a decade's worth of hippie-ness in less than an hour.
This cafe offered wraps, but didn't list the prices; it turned out they were $20 each! But not any ordinary wrap. No, these wraps were on buckwheat flatbread, and shaped into a cone. Totally worth it. NOT! But that's not all. There were local eggs at $16 a dozen! And water from their well that is "energised". Ugh!
Varena's curried sausages at dinner time were of the usual high standard, and tasted great. For some reason it had popped into Paul's head that he wanted it, so he got it, a la Varena.
