Geoff & I hit the road south on a mad 383km each way trip, at 6.30am.
I was hoping to find a rare orchid that had been posted during the week. We had some help, but we found it! I was so happy.
I was also able to check out the burn at Rest Point Road that we drove through last year & I was doubly happy to find another new to me orchid. This one was the South Coast Leek; happy dancing again.
A brilliant day.
I did manage to look up brief to get some photos of the beautiful scenery! |

I'm not one for getting up too early these days, but as Varena was so excited to have a chance to find this elusive Rose Spider Orchid I managed to be up at 0530! Ugh! Anyway, I saw to the chooks/birds, had breakfast etc, and we left the house at 0630. Apart from several tractors to dodge we had a mostly uneventful drive, with a leg stretch and cuppa about 0930. At some stage in the mid-morning we had a creature bolt across the road in front of us. We speculated that it was a large bandicoot, but after some thought and discussions we wondered if it was actually a quokka. The dashcam let me down when I checked it due to some unknown error; it hadn't recorded for a couple of days! Bugger!
It was after 11am by the time we looked for the target orchid, finding it after 10 or so minutes, slowed by both of us being bamboozled by Google Maps acting up. We had a further look around, finding more orchids but not another Rose. There were a couple of stops on the way home, with Varena being very pleased at the finds. We arrived back at the Bouvard house at 1830 after a 12 hour, 800km day. We had our favourite quick and simple dinner, pesto pasta.
Despite being tired we managed to watch a movie after dinner: The Predator (2018). It is a continuation of the several previous Predator films. It was rather crap.
