Friday 11th October
SHE SAID:
After our long day yesterday we had a nice quiet one at the house today.
The temperature got to 27c by the middle of the day, & it was warm enough to eat our cooked breakfast outside; a first since we arrived here in late August.
We finished the day with a fire at the fire pit. Geoff has managed to find another mountain of logs, branches & sticks for us to burn. The fire was lovely, as always.

HE SAID:
Varena's potato baskets with quail eggs, smoky beans, and fried salami was a very tasty breakfast. As I was doing my pre-brekky rounds I met a neighbour from across the street, Matthew, who is Alma's 18-22ish year old grandson. He asked if he could see the chickens, as he used to attend to them when Peter and Jenny were away, so I took him down to the chookery. He was pleased just to see them, and mentioned that there used to be pigs here as well! Once was enough for me (Bookara house-sit)!
We finally received our investment tax statements, so now we can do our tax returns. Every year they are so slow that we wonder if we'll miss the deadline. Anyway, the online return system is quick and easy. I don't look forward to completing it, but it is nowhere near as painful as it used to be. About 90% of the information is pre-filled, so that helps speed thing up. Plus, knowing that I'll be getting a little refund is nice.
