SHE SAID:

We were up at 3am for a 6am flight to Dubai. I think we were both surprised at how well we slept, knowing we were up at “stupid o’clock”.

The flight was only about 1/3 full, which was great, plenty of room to spread out.

I had booked us into a “5 star” hotel on the Dubai Creek, which was very nice, with a corner room overlooking the creek & the high-rise city view. But considering they have 7-star hotels here I think 5 star is the equivalent of Australia’s 3 star in price, which I thought was very reasonable.

We had a short walk along the creek, checked out the roof top pool & views, & had dinner at the hotel restaurant, strangely Italian themed! My plan of going to the fountain light show didn’t happen as the area is shut down for renovations! BUGGER!

HE SAID:

Getting up at 3am was a bit daunting but we both managed ok. We dropped the car at the airport’s long term parking and caught a shuttle bus to the terminal. Having the flight only part full was a win for us, with plenty of elbow room. There were no dramas at any stage and we took a taxi the 15 minute drive from Dubai Airport to our hotel. The hotel was quite flash; very pleasant. Having dinner at the hotel was due to being rather tired from the early start and the long day. Well go further afield tomorrow and try some local food.
