Monday 9th June

SHE SAID:

My plans were all changed this morning with the arrival of a lady & her daughter who came to look at Mum’s car with the idea of buying it. She had contacted me via the sister of an old school friend who saw the ad on WhatsApp.

I think the young daughter was rather overwhelmed with us all being there, so Geoff suggested they take the car for a drive & have a cuppa, which is what they did.

A "3 degrees of separation" moment came with this random contact, as this lady is the daughter-in-law of one of the ex-residents of Wakefield Court! WEIRD!

They returned saying that they would like the car & are happy to pay the price I suggested.

On an OMG...with F@#$!..... thrown in, we walked to Horsham Station to get train tickets to London, for Geoff to go to the cricket & for me to meet Sue for 1 day, travelling up with Geoff next Thursday. My return ticket including the tube was 60 pounds, that is $120!!! HOW CAN ANYONE PAY that on a daily basis!

HE SAID:

Talk about expensive. The trains here are really pricey. The weekly pass I bought was the cheapest option for me` to get to the cricket, yet still cost about $330 dollars. I weighed up get some accommodation in London instead but that was just way, way too dear, especially for 5 nights. So, I have a 90 minute commute each way, which, really, isn’t too bad. But I wouldn’t want to do it regularly.

Our walk up to the station was part recce, as well as for getting tickets. It is a little over a mile from Jan’s place, but knowing the way just in case Varena can’t drop me off in the car might be useful. Plus, we thought the walk would be nice.

Selling the car to the first interested party, and at the asking price, was a win all round. They are even happy to wait until the day before we leave for Australia before taking it. Everyone seemed happy.
