Thursday 14th August

SHE SAID:

The weather did a complete U-turn today. Yesterday was warm 28C with a warm northerly wind. Today was cold, barely reaching 17C with a southwestern gale, brrr. The rain didn’t amount to much, less than 2mm overnight, & a couple of squalls throughout the day.

The weather must have made all the orchids hibernate too! We saw very little at my choices of stops, rather disappointing. The Cauliflower & Bacon Soup with homemade muffin helped warm us up when we got back to the van.

Geoff tested out the new generator in the afternoon, it seemed to do the job. I had expected the weather to be more cool, cloudy & windy, & was a bit worried that we would run out of power, but it hasn’t been cloudy till today really!

Varena's cauliflower soup was great on the cool day, as usual. I gave the generator a run in the afternoon. Topping up the van's batteries can't hurt, plus I wanted to just play with my new toy. All good.
