SHE SAID:
We had a full day out, heading to the Mt Barker area for a burn, then a hoped-for Spider Orchid which I have only ever seen once. Also on the agenda was another undescribed Spider, & anything else we could find.
A couple of older burns were more productive than the year old one; the hoped for Starts’ Spider was showed to us by Parks & Wildlife people who we bumped into. They were doing a survey of this orchid & kindly showed us where they grew! I think we saw 11 in all!

HE SAID:
The day out was a bit longer than usual, probably because we kept finding things for Varena to photograph. There was a bit of concern in the afternoon when we first smelled smoke, and then saw that we were in a smoke haze. Without internet due to no mobile signal in that area we couldn't find out if it was just a farmer doing a burn-off, DBCA doing a preventative burn, or something else. We weren't too worried, but as we hadn't found much in that spot we moved along without dallying too much, just in case.
