SHE SAID:

It was another drive into the Peak District today. This time further north, along part of the Snake Pass & down along the reservoirs of Ladybower, Derwent, Howden. These reservoirs were used for training the “Dambuster” pilots in WW2 & for scenes in the same movie.

Other stops today included Castleton, the only place in the world that you can get the semi-precious stone 'Blue John”. Then Tideswell, which makes it's own version of Bakewell Pudding, but call it Tudz Pud, & Ashford-in-the-Water, to see "the very exciting" Packhorse style of bridge! This one is called Sheepwash Bridge as there is an ancient sheep wash here!

Geoff was very happy that the day's drive ended around 3pm so he could follow his favourite pastime, watching cricket!

make it back

Archie decided he wanted his photo taken today at the Ladybower Dam wall.
This dam wall was built with the intention that the water would flow over the middle section!

It was another pleasant day of meandering through the English countryside.
