SHE SAID:

Our day tripping around saw us see “Well Dressings” for the first time, do a cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham & taste the very delicious Bakewell Pudding. NOT to be confused with Bakewell Tart, on pain of death!

We also found some lovely Peak District villages, including Bonsall, Tissington & Eyam & some great scenery, despite the rain!
The first Well Dressing at Holymoorside ( though we couldn't actually see a well!)

Cable Car view at the Heights of Abraham

Looking across to a large stately home, we don't know which one it is though!

A Victorian lookout tower at the top of the cable car

Huff, puff..I made it to the top of the tower!

This "costume" was used by doctors during the "Great Plague".
They thought they could prevent themselves getting infected!!!

Another of the Well Dressing's this one in Eyam, depicting the
struggle of the locals with plague. The village voluntarily quarantined itself
for fear of spreading the disease to other villages

The picture is made up of thousands of petals from flowers, each
overlaid like tiles so that the rain will run off & not damage the picture.

Stormy view of dales & flowering heather moors

And then a rainbow
HE SAID:

This was my first visit to the peak district, and it shows just how flat England is when an area of hills are named peaks. It is a picturesque area, with rolling hills and quaint villages.

There are at least four separate places in Bakewell that claim to be the only original producer of Bakewell Puddings, and they all claim to have a secret recipe. We tried the first place we came to, and both the pudding and tart were good. There is probably no way to verify the origins of this dessert, but if we are in the area again I think we should try some more.
