SHE
SAID:
We
left Boulia after 9am. The
first stop for the morning was to find out about the ancient Waddi
Trees. They are only found in 3 small stands in the Boulia, Bedourie,
Birdsville area. They are extremely tough, not affected by fire, &
can blunt an axe if any attempt is made to chop then down. They are a protected species these days.
We
had another short stop at the Tropic Of Capricorn marker for a photo
with Archie. And we arrived into Bedourie around midday.
The
caravan park is very basic, but at $15 a night that's fine.
The
“town” is tiny, & I photographed everything I wanted to in
around 15 minutes. We were impressed with the very helpful visitor
information lady; we hammered her with a couple of dozen questions.

Bedourie means Dust Storm - which is depicted in this art work

Whoever made the road from Boulia to Bedourie deserves a pat on the back. Compared with the roads from Hughenden to Winton and Boulia it is great!
The van park opposite the Bedourie Roadhouse is fine for our needs. While a bit disorganised, at $15 a night with power and water we can't complain. The council-run van park up the road is twice the price, but you get to park near some green grass. We obviously didn't need the grass.
