SHE
SAID:
We
left Hughenden around 9am, heading south to Winton, then west to the
Hilton Hotel at Middleton!
Geoff
remarked on some graffiti on the road as we left town: “Brace
Yourself”! We soon found out why that had been written....the road
was badly dipping, humping, wallowing! We had to slow down &
brake constantly. Not great when you are towing a caravan.
The
roads were quiet & we got to Winton without a single car behind
us, all 214km!
Also
worth noting, we cracked the 20,000km for this current jaunt around
Oz. That is since we left Canberra in late February.
After
a fuel stop in Winton we headed down the Min Min Byway for our free
camp stop at Middleton, a Cobb & Co. stagecoach stop in the
middle of nowhere. By dusk there were a total of 5 caravan,s one
campervan & 2 4WDs with swags stopped for the night. Most
people enjoyed a great home cooked meal at the 140 year old pub.

HE SAID:
After wallowing along to Middleton we found the place great. The price was right, and when we wandered over to the pub for a carbonated beverage and a meal we had a good time. The lady that runs the place plonked herself down and told us a few stories about the place, while doling out our meal scraps to her fluffy pet dogs on the dining room floor.
