SHE
SAID:
We
had a couple of hours in the buzzing metropolis of Hughenden today. Well,
a walk around the one main street & a visit to the Flinders
Discovery Centre, which houses dinosaur stuff! After that there were several
metal artworks that I found to photograph, & we also crossed the
Flinders River, which at this time of years is just sand & dust.
There
was a “cowboy” riding up & down the river bed...we are not
sure why!
I
dragged Geoff up to Mount Walker for drinks at sunset; the drinks
were good & the sunset was average!

 |
| The not so Grand Hotel...boarded up & fenced! |
 |
| One of several dinosaurs in town |
 |
| The nice old-style Post Office |
 |
| A couple of old windmill pumps made into art on the main street of town |
 |
| More dinosaurs |
 |
| A nice memorial on the banks of the Flinders River |
 |
| Cowboy Country... |
 |
| Hughie the Hughenden dinosaur |

| This was once what Australia looked like |

HE SAID:
Varena needed a cloud or two to make the sunset a bit more interesting. The colours of the outback evening were great, but just don't appear all that well in photos. Being able to drive up to a viewing area at the top of Mount Walker made it very easy for us, so Varena had the camera and tripod out in a flash, while I poured the drinks.
