 Friday 26th May

SHE SAID:

Dorte & I had a fruitless orchid wander, but enjoyable walk in a couple of new locations. Locke Nature Reserve, on Caves Road, was the first stop. It has large drainage canals for the swamps behind the bush, but it appeared that the orchids didn’t like the forest before the swamp.

Our 2nd spot was to the north, off the Tuart Forest Drive, & this area was covered with Arum Lilies, which is weed, & weedy looking grasses. There was another swampy area which had a bird hide, but not one bird was visible. There are more birds around the man-made lakes in Vasse!

In the late afternoon we went next door to meet the neighbours, Marg & Bob. They were friendly & welcoming, & we sat outside around their fire table, which was pretty cool.

HE SAID:

I managed a few small jobs at the house, but it is a bit early to do some things, so my day was fairly quiet. Our evening with Marg and Bob was good. Having a fire inset into the table-top was a novelty, and fairly warm.
