Sunday 18th June 2023

SHE SAID:

We headed for Ravensthorpe today. We have been here several times & it’s all about the orchids again. Though, they are weeks behind previous years!

After setting up we went west to meet with Margaret, Kevin, & Kerri to search for new locations for the “undescribed” Bird which Mel re-found out this way a couple of years ago. Only 2 budding plants were found in over 2 hours of searching.

Back at the caravan I had a wander around the bush at the caravan park, finding a few signs of orchids to come.

The owner came around to the newly arrived vans to collect the money & I happened to have the photos from our July 2011 visit to this park up on the computer. I showed her & she was very interested in getting copies. The place was like a “rag & bone yard/junk yard” back then, with old toilets as plant holders & Barbie dolls doing “stuff” in the garden, & junk everywhere!

A spider's hole, I think!
Luckily the owner didn't appear...

HE SAID:

We set up the van after our 200km or so drive from Lake Grace to Ravensthorpe. And I set up the satellite dish so that I could watch the cricket in the evenings, too. There is TV reception here, but from what I can work out it is ABC only. So, if I want cricket, and I do, then the satellite is the way to go. We had a fairly dull wander around after lunch. It seems that the orchids have extended their holidays and are a few weeks behind expectations. Oh well. Nothing we can do about that!
