Friday 21st July

Geoff & I headed for Stokes National Park today, about 80km west of Esperance. We found a few orchids, mostly buds but a couple of flowering ones. I was hoping to suss out the burn there, but we couldn’t really find it.
On the way back we dropped into “Bread Local”, a bakery which is set up in a rural house that only opens once a week. It was hugely popular with a picnic area available, & seating to eat the freshly made food.
Our plans to go out in the afternoon didn’t come off due to a change in the weather from bright, warm & sunny to heavy rain & gusty winds. Then we heard that the house owners are coming back 4 days earlier than planned, so we need to re-jig our plans now.

We managed to find a few orchids today, but they mostly seem to be a few weeks later this year. Just luck of the draw, I guess.
We had thought of heading out to the brewery in the afternoon, until a series of wild squalls blasted in and made us prefer to stay in the toasty, warm, and dry house.
