I’m in mad orchid hunting mode again today. I headed about 400km north in hopes of seeing a couple of new to me orchids. I was meeting Mel in Pingelly, & we were staying there for 2 nights.
Of course, I had a few stops en-route. The highlight for me wasn’t the orchids, but an Echidna “train” I spotted in one of the reserves. Four Echidnas following each other, which I think is a mating ritual; at one stage they came straight towards me & gathered around my feet!
I got to Pingelly just ahead of Mel, so unpacked. When she arrived she was keen to head straight out, so, as she hadn’t been in the area before, I suggested Boyagin Rocks. We found 6 flowering orchids; I was quite happy.
Dinner at the pub was not good; the pizza had so much cheese on it I didn’t even eat ½ of it, & didn’t want to take the rest away. The motel was also not great; old & being renovated. I didn’t think I was at the right place to start with. I couldn’t see a reception, or signs of life. I was at the correct motel, but I won’t go back there!!!

HE SAID:
Varena was off so early this morning that I wasn't even brought a cup of coffee! She is so eager, and enthusiastic about the orchids that I don't mind if she zooms off for a few days to indulge, especially when she is meeting up with other orchid nuts, of which I am not one. I am just a sane biscuit-fed driver and spotter, which is still fun, sometimes.
I have a long list of minor tasks to do while Varena is away, and got several items checked off today. Then I watched a few shows. No point working myself to death!
