Tuesday 8th August
SHE SAID:
We headed off from Tozer’s before 10am, into an oncoming low! But we managed to get to the next camping spot at Wellstead before the heavy rain arrived.
The rain, wind & odd thunderclap persisted for the rest of the day, so I made an executive decision not to go out. I think Geoff was quite happy to stay inside too.

HE SAID:
We took our time heading off this morning, as Rob Tozer was going to check whether a Curly Locks orchid was open. They only open when the temperature reaches a certain warmth, but it was way too cold, and he said that it was tightly closed! So, we said our farewells and headed west again, this time to Wellstead, a tiny community, but supposedly a good base for an orchid hunt. We weren't to find out today, as we stayed in the van trying to remain warm and dry. Well, it is winter...
