 Friday 22nd March

SHE SAID:

We headed to Dryandra Woodland this morning. I had hoped we would see the gorgeous Numbats, & I’d booked us into the Barna Mia night tour. Dorte & Gary, & Mel also joined us, though we all had separate cabins.

For us the first stop was the mega mural at Wellington Dam; neither Mum nor Gary had seen it before. We saw it from the bottom & from above & enjoyed a light lunch at the kiosk near the top lookout.

Continuing on to the Lions Village in Dryandra for our accommodation we met up with Mel, who arrived just before us. We had a drive around looking for Numbats but had no luck.

Back at the cabins we had a BBQ at “Marri”, our cabin, before heading off again for the Barna Mia night tour. Geoff & I have done this tour before, but the others hadn’t. As usual, it was very good, & we saw 6 different night marsupials: Woylies – Brush-tailed Bettongs, Bilbies, Quendas - Southern Brown Bandicoots, Mala – Rufous hare-wallabies, Boodies – Burrowing Bettongs, & not forgetting the Brush-tailed Possum, which is actually an interloper!

The night was finished off with cake, ice cream & tea back at our cabin.

Barna Mia night tour

HE SAID:

The idea of the Barna Mia trip was for Varena and Jan to have a night away together. It turned into a gang of six having a night away. I wasn't going to join them as I was supposed to be house-sitting, but the house owners returned really early. That left me able to go along. And, as Varena told Dorte and Mel about the trip they also wanted to join us. So, we managed a fun evening, and got to see some of the rarer beasts.

Before we left for Dryandra this morning the doctor's office unexpectedly called. They wanted to arrange a phone appointment for Monday. This was unexpected, as I had asked that any biopsy report be emailed to me because we leave town very soon. My logic says that if the appointment is to discuss really awful news then the doctor would have spoken to me today. So, if it is just a routine follow-up I'll be annoyed because now he has introduced mystery to the situation. I would much have preferred being told it is fine then and there on the phone call. If, however, it is something else he wants to discuss then fair enough. But not knowing what Monday's appointment is about is frustrating!
