SHE SAID:

Mum, Geoff & I checked out Cowaramup & Margaret River before heading for the Voyager Estate Winery for tastings. I love the Cape Dutch styled buildings at this winery.

We met Dorte at the White Elephant Cafe in Prevelly for lunch, before going to Simmo’s Ice Creamery for... ou guessed it, ice cream. We had been promising Mum that she would get ice cream!

We rounded out the evening back at the house with Pasta Bolognese accompanied by the tasty Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon wine from the Voyager Estate; tasty.

This morning we managed to show Jan a bit of the local area. She seemed quite amused at the fibreglass cows around Coweramup. There was some excitement though, to get the trip started. We only made it about 300 metres, to the end of the road, when we noticed plumes of smoke coming from the nearby protea farm. It turned out to be a vehicle on fire on the highway, less than 1km from the house, but the flames had taken off through the farm, requiring several fire units, locals with water carts and hoses, and later on, water bombing helicopters. All was fine in the end.

Jan was quick to order smoked salmon at lunch time, followed by ice cream at Simmo's. So, with the fire, and the wine tasting added, she had a rather different day to her normal routine at home in Horsham!
