We had 199km to drive today, to Herron Point, for our final night in Bertie for 6 weeks. The trip went smoothly & it was surprisingly quite quiet going “over Perth”, with no hold-ups.
We had one stop for fuel & arrived at Herron Point soon after 11am. It is a relaxed little campground & it was fine for us to check in early. The place has changed quite a bit since we first used to come here. I think this is our 3rd or 4th stay.
It was blowing a gale, which is normal across the lake, but there were wind weather alerts out for the evening & night.
We did some checking of the local areas for orchids, as Jean, Bill & Tobias are coming down at the weekend hoping to see some.

Some of the roads north of Perth were rather bouncy, but we made it OK to Herron Point. There were a few orchids very close to the van, but just common varieties. Further afield, 9 Mile had very few, but along Herron Point Road Varena found some awesomely coloured hybrid Cowslips, in a part of the reserve that was not flooded by recent rains.
