Friday 27th September
SHE SAID:
I woke to a much cooler & overcast day. I thought it just looked gloomy to start with, but it was actually raining misty & light, annoying rain! By the time Beth arrived it was full on raining!
We headed north in search of “new to me” orchids & we had excellent success, despite the rain. There were lots of Midget Ducks, a few Alcock’s Ducks, with only 1 open, & very surprisingly, some Black-capped Suns open in the rain!
Despite the rain we crossed the highway searching for more Alcock’s Ducks, not seeing any, but Beth found a pink spotted sun! Very strange, it must be a hybrid, I think. We decided it was likely a Northern Sun x Freckled Sun, both of which flower in the area! What a find, & a couple of the flowers were open enough for photos.
We got back to the van park at 4pm, a great day out.

HE SAID:
My day was not busy but constant, with several jobs getting done. I thought I'd have a practice go with the battery-powered lawn mower, which was a mistake. It is not designed for the job at a property like this. I'll probably have a quick go just before the owners return to neaten things up a bit, but it won't be fun.
At beer o'clock one of the neighbours, Alma, popped in. I now know so much about her life, career, health, two husbands, three kids (one deceased) and much more, as I listened to her story for nearly 90 minutes. It was nearly dark when I suggested that I had things that I needed to do, so she headed home, telling me that she is an introvert on the way out!
