Wednesday 18th September
SHE SAID:
Geoff & I headed south to the Boyup Brook & Kojonup areas for a look around. We, or should I say "I", had an excellent day. Geoff’s spotting skills are brilliant & we found around 30 different orchids in a range of habitats. A few return places & several new ones too.
It was almost 6pm by the time we got in. Geoff definitely ‘earned’ his beer tonight!!!
Orchids galore! |
HE SAID:
Today was one of my longest orchiding days. We left the house before 7:30, drove around 600km for the day, and returned to the house around 6pm. As we had a fair drive to get to the main orchid site we weren't planning any stops until we reached our furthest point near Kojonup. However, for some reason I managed to spot some white spider orchids in the bush/forest while we were doing 110 km/h, so I slowed down, told Varena, and she said we should stop for a look. I'm thinking that 110km/h is my record speed for spotting orchids!
The day would have been less interesting if we didn't find much, but as we found plenty of orchids, and Varena's enthusiasm was brimming, it wasn't dull.
Beer was consumed afterwards.
