SHE SAID:

Again, we did our own thing today, Geoff’s sister Meg was arriving from Canberra at 11.15am, so we volunteered to pick her up. We left around 90 minutes before the flight was due so we could have a scenic drive along the coast, south to Ballina East, before going to the airport.

The traffic is manic along the coast road; we gave up trying to stop at Broken Head, had a couple of stops in Lennox Head, & a drive through Ballina East.

Later we went back to the airport for Annette & Drew.

Around 5pm Jac & I headed down the road to the Pixie bar for cocktails & had a very enjoyable couple of hours. We managed to return to the house just as the BBQ dinner was ready! Great timing on our part.

Varena and Jacqui heading out for cocktails was amusing. Jac had prepped a lot of the salads for dinner, Varena had coordinated the meat and other purchases. So, once we realised that the girls must be having a grand old time Mick and I got dinner rolling. Luckily we were helped by Drew, who, with his cooking experience, used the unusually cramped cooking facilities to cook the meat. It all turned out really well, with Varena and Jac rolling in all giggly just before it was all ready. It was fun.
