Friday 16th May
SHE SAID:
We had a Teams chat with Juli-chin this morning. Kiyoka was out with the old work colleagues.
For lunch we went to Tottington Manor. Mum’s original choice of The Fox was closed. We had a very nice lunch & the weather was kind too, sunny & mild.
John wasn’t up for joining us, so we dropped into see him after our lunch, taking some Portuguese Tarts from the Henfield Bakery. John was sitting up in his chair & told us of his medical problems for the last 6 weeks. He had had massive fluid buildup; over 7 litres were drained, & yesterday was the first time in a month & ½ that he had left the room under his own steam, walking down to the lounge for a cuppa.
We chatted for about an hour.
A red-letter day for Geoff, he had his first beer in 52 days!
HE SAID:
Well, it’s all about me! At the supermarket on Wednesday arvo I grabbed a couple of Old Speckle Hens, a nice ale, and put them in Jan’s fridge. I have been feeling a bit better recently, and despite thinking that I’d like a beer on other days, I put it off. I wanted to be in Horsham, with no immediate plans, before I indulged, just in case there was a problem with my slowly improving vertigo. The beer I had was very nice. And, with no observable detrimental effects I may very well drink the other one tomorrow!
Seeing John in the nursing home was a bit confronting. He related his medical woes to us, and suspects that he may have had some minor strokes, and possibly some minor heart attacks. From a year ago when we last saw him he has certainly become more frail. I think he spends a lot of his days in bed, and I don’t know how often he gets dressed. At 93 I don’t know how long this can last.
