Monday 29th September

SHE SAID:

Geoff & I took it easy doing the final pack up & departure from Kalgoorlie. I was concerned that the 568km to Narrogin was stretching it a bit far but had said to Geoff we should share the driving. I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to towing the van, but it is so much smoother & easier with the Ranger than with the Colorado. I wasn’t nervous at all & managed maybe a third of the driving.

Nikki & Kathy went a different route, heading through Hyden, & at my suggestion going to McCann's Rock to hunt for orchids.

We got to Narrogin around 4.10pm, an 8-hour drive with good breaks along the way. We are staying for 7 days & got a great weekly rate of under $28 per night. Nikki & Kathy arrived an hour later, having seen heaps at McCanns Rock. I got together with them briefly to sort out plans for tomorrow.

I gave my cousin Judy a call to wish her Happy Birthday, she is 60 today.

Interesting traffic on the Great Eastern Highway

HE SAID:

We rarely tow the van for such long distances as today. But, with Varena sharing the driving it was much easier. She made it look easy. After we'd set the van up in Narrogin I jacked up the ute to try and lube the rear suspension to stop a fairly loud squeak. It was sweaty work, and took longer than I anticipated, as usual, but I think I have it sorted.
